It has been over a year from our last release (and news post) but things are still moving along despite the silence. Due to recent unforeseen issues most of our music production was halted for the first half of this year, but things are about to change!
Nyan Cat Remix!
A remix of the popular internet meme Nyan Cat (to continue with our trend; see Hal Turner, Paul Fetch etc..) from X5s will soon be hitting Youtube is now on Youtube! If you have been following our soundcloud account several "rough cuts" had been uploaded, along with some work in progress songs. We are proud to announce that this remix will be freely available for download. There are also plans to create and release samples for other artists to use.
When is your next CD coming out!?
Currently we have 2 tracks in post-production and 3 tracks finished (Nyan Cat Remix, Bomb Toss 2011, and another unnamed track). Which brings us to a total of 5 tracks. Of course this is not nearly enough to fill an entire CD so we are currently getting ourselves back on track to start producing more songs. A release date is not known at this time and may unfortunately spill over into early 2012. We encourage you to keep checking back on us every now and again (or following us on twitter) for work in progress posts and updates.

Artists and remixers rejoice! The audio (wav format) samples for Bullet Rosette have been released! You will find them on the "Music & Discography" page under the Bullet Rosette info. Please note that these samples do come with a license; in short all we are asking for is some credit and that you release the track for free.
We would like to ask that all remixes created (or those that wouldn't mind being put on our second CD for Bullet Rosette) be submitted either via email to x5s[at]x5smedia[dot]com (please disregard the anti-spam measures) or through soundcloud.com via the image in the upper left hand corner of our web page.
Please remember that we would like to release a second CD with around fourteen remixes from the Bullet Rosette album so if your an indie artist or a signed one please don't shy away. Remixes by anyone and in any musical style will be accepted so there is no need to try and keep on task with the tracks original style or genre.
Please note that three tracks (6,7 and 8) have yet to get their samples released; these should be available by Monday July 19th. Track 4 (the Three Rivers remix) will not have its wav or midi samples released, this is due to the original artists request.

As our 10th release Bullet Rosette is a milestone. Spanning over six years X5s has come a long way. With this release comes a series of sample for indie artists, signed artists and remix artists. Currently only midi samples (and some vocal samples) are up for download. On July 12th the .wav samples will become available.
Please note that these samples come with a license; hopefully that wont scare anyone off. The license, in short, asks merely for a line giving credit to X5s the original artist (or creator of a sample used). In no way will we ever ask for royalties or payment under any circumstances.
With this we announce that the X5s remix CD is now open for business. Like a track on Bullet Rosette? Think you can make it better or add to it? Perhaps you enjoy the song but want to re-engineer it to another genre. If this is the case then please feel free to do a remix (or ask someone you know to do one). We ask that anyone who creates a remix to please submit a download link (or a streaming link) to us. The entire idea behind Bullet Rosette was to create a CD with a second disk which contains remixes. So if you want your remix to be featured for our second CD then don't hesitate to send us a link!
Remix submissions will be taken for several months so don't rush! More information about where you send your links will be posted on July 12th.

Bullet Rosette will be released initially in both Full CD and single track high quality (320kbps) downloads. Lower quality versions will be added throughout the day.
Good news for all of our fans; Bullet Rosette is finished! We are getting everything ready behind the scenes for the release which includes a redesign of the website. We are shooting for a release date within the first week of July. Keep your fingers crossed!

The entire CD amounts to just over 74min of electronic music ranging from chiptunes to progressive trance and even into hard trance (a first ever for us).
Remember that this CD is being released with its samples, meaning that anyone can remix any of the songs (besides three rivers) freely. More information on this will be announced next week.
The idea behind X5s started with a christmas gift; a small 66 key synth which later became the building block for Jeremy and his love for creating music. A few years later Jeremy met Jeff who constantly influenced and challenged the ideas and concepts behind Jeremy's musical style. X5s is the collaboration between these two men and their usage of several musical instruments and tools. These tools range from virtual synths (VST's) to an array of different digital audio workstations (DAW's). Till the CD "Bullet Rosette" FL Studio was used for the entire process but now X5s utilizes both FL Studio and Ableton Live in order to complete each track.
X5s has gone through many transformations with musical style; from cheesy happy hardcore to game music and from classical to electronica. At this current time X5s does not belong to any set genre but instead makes music which blurs the lines between multiple genres. Some say our music is a form of trance while others think it rides alongside of video game music or experimental. Years later and an evolutionary curve to prove it X5s has created an interesting blend of electronic music that creates discussion and insomnia. A colaboration between awkward sounds with the willingness to inject harmony and a sense of solitude. Both men whom make up X5s are in their mid twenties and have a background in music theory. X5s originally resided in Lake Elsinore, California but currently one member lives in Fullerton, California while the other lives in San Diego, California.
X5s's influences are mainly bands from the 80's. Bands from other electronic genres such as: Infected Mushroom, Bloom 06, Eiffel 65, Misted Muppet, MindInABox, Gammer, InEffect, UFO, DNA, Sy, Unknown, Fracus, Resist, Inpact, Hixxy, Scott Brown, CLSM, Cube::Hard, Darwin, S3RL and such from the UK Hardcore genre and Goa/Psytrance genre have all created some type of inspiration or appreciation towards electronic music.
X5s has been going for almost eight years now and we hope that you enjoy our past or current songs. We see music as an art form and with that we believe that art is an inspirational tool for the masses.
